Kitchenware galore and a little bit of home office!

I love it when a previous customer sends me a message asking for help.

This special customer wanted 4 bowl cozies, 2 sets of heat proof oven mitts, 6 large hot pads to protect her table from hot pans, plus a wrist rest to protect her sore wrist bones when using her mouse whilst working from home.

I had free rein on the designs so went to town with some new fabric I'd just purchased for matching oven mitts and hot pads, I think they turned out great (and want some for myself!).

Bowl Cozies

My customer loved the VW van fabric I had so I included one of those, and she wanted 3 other individual ones.

Heat Proof Oven Mitts

To say I didn't swear during the designing and creating of the oven mitts would be a lie.  The oven mitts took some working out as I hadn't made them before, lots of YouTube videos and trial and error until I designed and created the pattern that worked best for me.  I might even add these to my store they turned out so well (and now I have the secret recipe for making them beautifully - with much less swearing lol).

Wrist Rest

For the wrist wrist, she wanted something about 10cm x 8cm and 1cm thick.  I cut the fabric 6" x 6" and the finished size is perfect for supporting the wrist area.  I know my customer has a bird whom she is extremely fond of and is very much part of her family, so I chose this little cutie with 4 layers of cotton wadding inside.  How cute is this!!!!

What makes me so happy about being able to create things are that my customers know they can ask for and get exactly what they want to suit their individual needs.  The wrist rests in the shops are too high for what my customer wanted and so now she has her very own bespoke pretty wrist rest to ease her sore bones.

I had sew much fun (and a little bit of swearing at the oven mitts) making these sets, I hope my customer loves them when she sees them for the first time!

Sew-long for now,

Gill T
